During the past 18 months, it has become very clear to us that not all of those who are in need can, and want to be helped. We have become more and more aware of the great plight of young girls, women and children. These young girls and women tend to all have more or less the same background. Most of them were abused or molested as children, having no comfort or protection. This resulted in many of them making the wrong choices very early in life, mainly to escape a cruel father or stepfather, or sometimes an unloving mother. Many have given birth to their first baby at the early age of 14, 15 or 17. They have become prisoners of these circumstances ...........!

After speaking to some of these mothers and young girls and doing a substantial amount of research, we realised that there is a huge shortage of places where these young girls and mothers can go to, where they can regain their human dignity and worthiness, a place where they can be comforted, receive counselling and therapy and where they can be taught how to care for and support themselves and their children again so that after a year or so they can return to their rightful place in society, together with their children. There are many institutions and havens that shelter children, but very few that also include the mothers.

This inspired us to get working on filling this gap. In June 2009, THE CRADLE OF HOPE therefore put all their faith in God and purchased an enormous house in Krugersdorp-West which will be developed into a House of Restoration for these girls, women and children. We trust that, with The Lord's help, we will be able to equip and pay for this house. Once all of the regulations and the appropriate registrations have been complied with and the house has been fully equipped, we will be able to accommodate our first mothers, together with their children.

"ADOPT-A-ROOM" Project :

To enable us to equip this house, we are urgently appealing for assistance. We are calling on organisations, institutions, businesses and individuals to sponsor/ adopt a room. The room will then become the total responsibility of it's sponsor - the flooring, painting, furnishing and finishing touches, e.g. the linen, curtains, etc. The sponsor will receive the necessary exposure, should this be required.

STIMULATION GROUP FOR PRE-SCHOOL CHILDREN

We are currently involved with the children of the Coronation Park tent village in Krugersdorp. With the help of sponsors we have equipped a large wooden hut with educational toys etc., where the smaller children of the tent village are being taught pre-school skills. Classes are presented every Monday to Friday from 10h00 till 12h00. The pre-schoolers as well as the other childen are provided with a healthy, nutritious meal twice daily.

We require the following for this project :

Donations of food for the children. We strive to provide these children with healthy food which is vital for physical and mental development. Examples of food items we require are : Sliced bread, margarine, peanut butter, marmite, fishpaste, strawberry jam, mayonnaise, eggs, fish fingers, chicken nuggets, viennas, cheese, ham or other cold meats, full cream longlife milk, Milo powder, Nesquik powder, hot chocolate powder, concentrated fruit juice.
The assistance of occupational therapists, remedial teachers, social workers, doctors and dentists who would be prepared to assist these children at a discounted rate.
Educational toys and other related educational items, such as crayons, books, paper, paint etc.

We urgently require the assistance :

of WEST RAND based committed volunteers who feel the calling to become involved with our project in assisting these children.
