15Ha plot
A 15Ha plot was purchased with the help of donations from the directors of the Section 21 Company. This plot is in the Vlakplaats, Tarlton district, just past the Krugersdorp Game Reserve and will be utilised entirely for the purpose of THE CRADLE OF HOPE.
At this stage the plot is very neglected and needs a lot of work to be done, before we will be able to accommodate our first homeless people. The farm house has to be renovated and we will have to seek donations of building material, furniture etc. Additional housing must be erected for the homeless people. However, there is huge potential and endless possibilities. The soil is very fertile and crops will be planted as soon as possible.
PRAYER WALK
During November 2008 a prayer walk was held at the 15HA plot in Tarlton. Approximately 30 people participated.

The CRADLE OF HOPE operates in the spirit of UBUNTU.
The rationale behind the name UBUNTU can best be explained as follows :
To remind ourselves of what we can do in our everyday life to help others, we attribute the following pledges to the letters in the word UBUNTU :
U = Understand each other
B = Build relationships with respect
U = Unwavering commitment to the cause
N = Need to trust each other
T = Tune out our differences amicably
U = Use our time and talents to help those in need
We define the true meaning of UBUNTU as :
-
humanity, generosity, compassion, helpfulness
-
living productively through other people, true to the age-old concept of goodwill; "live and let live"; thus unselfishly helping our fellow man to lead a good quality of life
-
that a person is a person through other people is the philosophy of UBUNTU through which we can learn respect for our fellow man
-
respect for and conservation of the environment to enable us to live a healthy life on a healthy planet.
Main Objectives :
-
The upliftment of homeless and destitute families, especially women and children, through the proclamation of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ by living the Gospel.
-
Providing work for the people on a “kibbutz” basis that will secure them with a place and a plan which they can eventually use as a stepping stone towards a ‘New Beginning’.
-
We aim to assist them in earning a living by providing them with the required training, resources and opportunities. They have to contribute to the upliftment of their own lives by working either on the premises or in the outside market.
-
We will endeavour to assist in the medical needs of these people, as well as the surrounding community, by providing a clinic on the premises, with qualified personnel and basic medical services.
-
The building of a care home for abandoned and homeless children to house them until placed in foster care.
-
The building of a pre-school facility to start the education process of the children living on the property as well as children from the community at a very young age.
-
We will be opening a charity shop where the poor will have the opportunity to buy a variety of foodstuffs, clothing, toiletries and blankets at greatly discounted rates. We will buy dry foodstuffs in bulk and pack these into smaller vacuum-sealed packages. We will be employing jobless persons to work in the shop, thereby creating work and upliftment opportunities.
As The Bible teaches us, the poor were not to receive
handouts.
Israel was instructed not to gather all of their harvest. They were to
leave something on the land for the poor to gather for themselves. They
could benefit by means of working for themselves, by gathering what was
left behind. This stands in stark contrast to the modern concept of
mercy aid. Mercy aid strips people of their initiative to
work and take
responsibility for their own lives. It is not a means to build an
economy. God’s intention is that “there shall be no
poor among you. . .” (Deut 15:4). The Biblical ethic and
philosophy for a sound economy is to eliminate poverty.
We have a
heart towards the poor and we are committed to a process of eliminating
poverty. We must change how we do business at street level to
line up
with God’s mandate and principles.
Revelations
5:9
And they sang a new
song : "You are worthy to take the
scroll and to open the seals, because you were slain, and with your
blood you
purchased men for God from every tribe and language and people and
nation."
Matthew
25:42-43 (New International Version)
For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you
gave
me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I
needed
clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did
not
look after me.'
We currently
need lots of prayer to get this project going.
We are children of God, helping other children of God who are
suffering. That is all. We do not wish to gain any
glory
for ourselves. We have no connections with any
political party or specific church denominations. We love
Jesus
Christ and serve His children.
